DZ-6 vs DZ04 Electromagnetic Switch for Table Saws

2026-09-07 20:11

Electromagnetic switches are the standard power-interrupting device for table saws, band saws and other woodworking machines: they combine motor switching, restart prevention and an emergency stop in one panel-mounted unit. When you open a DKLD quotation or compare the DZ family, two series appear most often for single-phase machines — the DZ04 series and the DZ-6 series. This guide explains what separates them and how to choose for a table saw application.

Direct answer: Choose by motor current and required safety functions. For single-phase table saws and light woodworking machines up to about 10 A, the DZ04 series (DZ04-2D: 10(10) A at 240 V~, TÜV/CE to EN 61058, IP55) is the compact, economical choice. For heavier saws, dual-voltage machines, or lines where you want an integrated emergency stop plus restart prevention in one double-pole device, the DZ-6 series (DZ-6-2M: 16(15) A at 250 V~, AC-3 duty 15 A, TÜV/CE to EN 61058 and EN 60947, IP55) is the higher-rated option; the LDZ-6-2M variant carries cRUus (UL 61058) for North American exports.

What the two series share

Both DZ04 and DZ-6 are electromagnetic (no-volt release) switches: if supply power is interrupted, the switch drops out and will not restart by itself when power returns — the protection behaviour EN 60204-1 expects on machines with a start button. Both series are built in IP55 thermoplastic enclosures, rated T85/T55, and both are certified to EN 61058 with TÜV/CE marks, with 50,000-cycle mechanical life ratings. Both accept screw terminals for panel wiring and are available for OEM customization of terminals and marking.

Choosing for a table saw line

  • Up to 10 A motor / small bench saws: DZ04-2D keeps the panel compact and the BOM lean; it covers typical 1.5–2.2 kW single-phase motors at 230 V.
  • Heavier saws, 3–4 kW class or 110 V dual-voltage lines: step up to the DZ-6 series. Its 16(15) A / AC-3 15 A rating gives margin for motor inrush, and the double-pole break plus integrated E-stop covers the higher duty cycle of production tables.
  • Exporting to North America: the LDZ-6-2M (cRUus, UL 61058) removes a certification gap that otherwise forces a second supplier.
  • Existing machine lines switching suppliers: confirm panel cutout, mounting and terminal layout against the incumbent switch's datasheet before qualification; DKLD provides drawings and samples for a life-cycle test on your start/stop profile.

FAQ

Can DZ04 replace a 16 A electromagnetic switch? No — DZ04 is rated 10(10) A; for 16 A-class single-phase duty use the DZ-6 series. Rating must match the motor FLA plus start-up margin.

Is the DZ-6 emergency stop a separate part? No — the E-stop is integrated in the switch (ISO 13850 / IEC 60947-5-5), so you do not need a separate panel-mount emergency stop button.

Which certification covers EU vs US? TÜV/CE (EN 61058, EN 60947) covers EU machines; LDZ-6-2M carries cRUus (UL 61058) for the US/Canada market.

Can DKLD customize DZ switches? Yes — terminals, wiring, markings and panel variants via the OEM/ODM program; contact our engineers with your motor specs.

DKLD (Dongke Electric) designs and manufactures electromagnetic switches in Yueqing, Zhejiang, with TÜV/CE and UL certification verifiable in the official registers.
